  • Altered Imagery: Hand painted photography that started as a long telephoto lens shot back down towards The Castro. Part of a series of multi-media works created using image transfer processes where the archival inks from a high quality digital inkjet print are taken and transferred to printmaking paper. The image was finished with acrylic paint, ink and a gloss medium finish. Large formats and gallery prints available. Artist: Mark Gould
  • Fishermans Wharf, San Francisco, No. 134 by Mark Gould / $76.00
Fishermans Wharf - San Francisco, original art 32" x 24", mixed media. Digitally painted photograph, inkjet image transfer process, acrylics, pen and ink. I use a number of hand made printmaking processes that are similar in a way to polaroid transfers; I print a high quality pigment inkjet print to a special transparency medium, then, using 300g hot press printmaking paper coated with my "secret emulsion transfer solution" :) I transfer the image to paper for further work in paint and other media. I also make acrylic skins in a similar process. It's magic! Each image is unique, the prints for sale are a limited reproduction. Size and other information available at the online store.
  • As both a mixed media and multimedia artist  I don't have any singular defining style. I'm influenced and guided by the paints, photographs, video, found objects or other materials and substrates that I work with. This piece of Castro Street began as a digital photograph and was altered and painted using a stylus pen and a pressure sensitive brush. Then using image transfer techniques that have adopted from earlier, chemically based processes now being done using non-toxic substances, a digital print is pulled from a transparency printed using archival pigment-based inks. Once the transfer has been made to heavy printmaking papers, wood or almost any substrate, work with additional paints, mediums and other materials takes place.
